Nick Swardson, Cheri Oteri join Grown Ups 2

Dennis Dugan returning to direct Sandler sequel for Sony

Adam Sandler is calling on some old pals to fill out the cast of “Grown Ups 2,” as comedian Nick Swardson and Sandler’s fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Cheri Oteri have joined the star-studded comic ensemble.

“Grown Ups” helmer Dennis Dugan is returning to direct the sequel for Sony Pictures and Happy Madison. Jack Giarraputo is producing with Sandler, who stars alongside Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider.

Swardson will play Schneider’s brother, who drives a school bus, occasionally while under the influence of alcohol.

Oteri will play Sandler’s ex-girlfriend from middle school, who now works in the store owned by his wife (Salma Hayek).

Other newcomers to the sequel include Taylor Lautner, David Henrie and “Project X” star Oliver Cooper.

Swardson broke out with a starring role in “Grandma’s Boy,” and has since appeared in at least seven Happy Madison productions, including the title role in “Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star,” which he also co-wrote and produced with Sandler and Allen Covert. Thesp will soon be seen alongside Sandler in “That’s My Boy,” which Sony releases June 15.

Oteri was among a trio of thesps who joined “SNL” in 1995 after Sandler and Chris Farley left to pursue movie careers. She made her bigscreen debut in “Liar Liar” and went on to co-star in “Scary Movie.” More recently, she has appeared in more dramatic films such as Richard Kelly’s “Southland Tales” and Jennifer Lynch’s “Surveillance.”

Swardson is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, while Oteri is repped by Gersh and Barry Katz Entertainment.
